A beautifully landscaped park along the river in downtown Asahikawa. They also have a community center and playground. You can keep walking and walking.

Takasago Sake Brewery

Takasago Sake Brewery

Established in 1899, Takasago Sake Brewery is a historic institution in Asahikawa and features a visitor center with an occasionally free guided tour located in a charmingly restored Meiji-era building.

Goto Sumio Museum

The museum began as the studio of the famous Japanese painter Sumio Goto, who was attracted to the harsh nature of Hokkaido and set up his studio in Kamifurano at the foot of Mt. Tokachi. Bonus for the excellent restaurant that uses local Furano ingredients.

Takushinkan

Takushinkan is a famous photo gallery by Shinzo Maeda, a well-respected landscape photographer whose photos put Biei on the map as one of the best sightseeing spots in Hokkaido back in the 1970s.

Yumoto Shirogane Onsen Hotel

Near the picturesque Shirogane Bridge above the blue Biei River, this spa offers stunning outdoor pools with views of the river and waterfall.

Ryounkaku Onsen

The hardest to reach and also the most charming, Ryounkaku, near the summit of Mt. Tokachi, offers lodging, food, and views of the Tokachi Volcano.

Hakuginso Onsen

The most famous, and rightly so, onsen in the area, located beneath Mt. Tokachi. Go early or go late to skip the crowds. They also have a co-ed section for couples with a bathing suit. The area is also a starting point for popular summer hikes and winter backcountry trails.

Highland Furano

The local Furano onsen for the locals. Ask about the dinner + onsen special for the best way to end a busy day. Located 10-minutes from downtown Furano.
